In the WFUNA AI Hackathon held in South Korea, I, as the only Chinese team member, led a diverse team composed of members from Japan and Korea.
Our team faced the challenge of designing a solution to address elderly care issues in aging societies like Japan and Korea. These societies experience significant caregiving challenges such as inefficient information management, lack of real-time communication, and limited family involvement in the care process. The traditional systems are cumbersome, leading to caregiver burnout and communication breakdowns.
Our mission was to develop a mobile application in 17 hours that would:
Improve communication efficiency between caregivers and family members.
Simplify information management to reduce caregiver burnout.
Provide real-time updates for families about the elderly person's health status.
Team Coordination & Management:
I successfully coordinated and managed the team, ensuring smooth communication and efficient task distribution despite cultural and language differences. This allowed us to make the best use of everyone's strengths.
Design & Feature Development:
Designed a dual-interface system for caregivers and families.
Integrated AI voice recognition for caregivers, especially middle-aged staff, to easily record and share health updates.
Developed a remote monitoring system for families to track real-time health information.
Implemented a smart scheduling feature to optimize caregiving tasks.
Prototype Development:
I helped design and develop functional prototypes for both interfaces, focusing on user-friendly features such as a 5-point daily status scale, real-time communication, and AI-powered voice memos.
Grand Prize at the WFUNA AI Hackathon for our innovative solution to elderly care.
The judges praised the user-centric design, the integration of AI technologies, and the clear social impact of the project.
This project has the potential to revolutionize elderly care globally by empowering caregivers and connecting familiesin a meaningful way.
